Hey for all those who have loved and lost Chinese food I have great news!!!!! :celebrate:  I just found out that Calgary has an awesome Chinese food restaurant called Oriental Palace.  It is located by the river on 9 Parkdale Cresent N.W. and the owners have gone MSG free and have tons of items that can be made GLUTEN FREE!!!  I am a huge lover of their lemon chicken!!  It tastes like the real kind!   Yayyy for the return of fried rice and egg foo yung!!! :happydance:  Just had to share my great discovery!!!!!!!

I was planning to talk about this place, you beat me to it! :p

This is what I would describe as a "mom and pop" restaurant. They care so much about the people, the food and the overall service they give everyone. I think the whole place is run by either family or friends as they all seem to care so much and you always see the same workers there. It's kinda like that old t.v. show Cheers, when you walk in the owners seem to know everyones name and even if they don't know your name they do remember you as they can almost place your order before you even say a word.. its honestly amazing the pride they have!

The food... AMAZING!!!!
I am not a Celiac myself so I will admit that sometimes I do cheat, sometimes by accident but this place you don't have to! I tried almost everything gluten free and it was seriously better than most non-gluten free Chinese restaurants, no joke!

Try the lemon chicken and then tell me how the heck they do that without flour, insane! And don't worry about cross contamination or even mentioning anything about Celiac Disease since the owners and everyone working there takes great care and FULLY understands about Celiac Disease, even more than I do.

Great place, great food, great gluten free knowledge (most important), and it's Chinese food!:celebrate:

Have been disappointed with so many other places that I am told as far as chinese being  gf aware so looking forward to trying this one out .

Keep hearing about it but for some reason forgetting about it .
Will make a point now of trying it out .Otherwise the best comes from my kitchen . Love Chinese.

Maybe tomorrow.

Only fpur years of being diagnosed but constantly learning .
It is great to be able to communicate with others on their search for restaurants and such. I travel and eat out constantly so have had to learn and adjust .

I am SO excited to try this place!  I've never been a huge fan of chinese food, but I do get cravings once in a while... when we do order it, I am always jealous of my husband's ginger beef!  hmmm... his birthday is tomorrow, maybe he'll be hungry for chinese food  Smiley

We finally went to check this place out.
Victoria, who never eats too much, cleaned off all the lemon chicken and half of my plate.
They do a great job for Celiacs. Very good.

we did order from Oriental Palace in July and LOVED the lemon chicken, and the salt and pepper squid... I didn't realise how much I missed squid!

I was just told today of another chinese food restaurant in Calgary that DOES make ginger beef/chicken!!!  It's also in the NW, in Varsity, near Market Mall.  I have yet to go, but will very soon!

I wish I could help you out on gf chinese food in Edmonton...  I'll keep an ear out!

Just so you all know, I did take my hubby to Peking Garden a couple weeks ago.  This is my absolute FAVORITE chinese restaurant!!!  We ordered ginger beef, salt and pepper squid, and cashew chicken... ALL gluten free!  The only dishes the do not make gluten free is won tons, egg/spring rolls and lemon chicken (bummer).  BUT, the ginger beef and the salt and pepper squid were absolutely amazing!  I have never had anything so flavorful and so crispy, it was unbelievable!

I am looking forward to going back... by far the best I've ever had.  The staff are so wonderful and friendly, and the restaurant is always jam packed, good sign for a restaurant!

My advice... check it out soon, it's well worth it!

I am excited. Thanks for the info. I am not a huge fan of Chinese food, but I've been craving it since I found out I can't eat it.

OPM - Edmonton - Have a GF Menu.  Incorporated with Joey's

Pagolac - Edmonton - Vietnamese (so not quite chinese)

Be careful here, there's only a few items that are GF.  The young guy that owns the place can detail everything for you.

Sweet Mango - Edmonton - Vietnamese (again) - Very knowledgeable

Mongolie Grill - Edmonton - Stir Fry - Visibly Display GF Sauces/Items on buffet.
